New River Water Trail Coordination
The 320-mile-long New River provides potential for a world-class water trail that connects National Parks, State Parks, Wild and Scenic River sections and numerous county and municipal parks to maximize the economic value of this iconic river system and create a durable investment in expanding conservation among all levels of government. The New River Conservancy is looking for support to permanently hire a New River Water Trail Coordinator that will work with local, state and federal agencies to pool resources, activate volunteers, develop additional access points, conserve critical land, influence positive outcomes for water quality and strengthen community connections to the river’s health. Further, with land-protection and river trail amenity development projects underway, they are looking for support to put directly into high-priority projects that expand the New River Water Trail and ensure its lasting protection.
