Cripple Creek Confluence
The New River Conservancy and partners are working to purchase and publicly protect a 54-acre tract with significant natural resource, historical and recreation value. Cripple Creek is the most southerly population of the Candy Darter worldwide, with a vibrant population that Federal and State biologists harvest individuals from to propagate and populate streams in the animal’s historical range. The property also has two significant historical structures and holds significant value to the New River, New River Trail State Park, recreation on the New River Water Trail, and potential for local terrestrial recreation opportunities.
