Duck Haven Biodiversity and Drinking Water Intake Site

Located in Pickens County, not far from its border with Greenville County, Duck Haven is a 146-acre tract bordering the Saluda River, a conservation priority in the Upstate region and a major river system for the state. The property boasts a 33-acre floodplain consisting of freshwater emergent and forested shrub wetlands and provides suitable habitat for eleven threatened and endangered species, with three more observed within three miles of the property. In addition to its biological diversity, the property is just upstream from the drinking water intake of a local water utility, solidifying it as a conservation priority.
