Beaver Creek Erosion Control

Beaver Creek, a tributary to Turkey Creek in Pinson, Jefferson County, Alabama, is experiencing significant erosion due to increased heavy precipitation and increased impervious surfaces.  Not only does this erosion increase sedimentation and decrease aquatic habitat quality, but it also contributes to flooding in downtown Pinson. FLT is collaborating with the Jefferson County Department of Roads and Transportation and the City of Pinson to restore three sections of eroding stream banks, as well as conduct surveys for four federally protected species (Black Warrior waterdog salamander, flattened musk turtle, rush darter fish, and watercress darter fish) throughout the watershed.
