Village Creek Park Plan

Village Creek Park, located adjacent to Village Creek in the Ensley/Pratt communities of Birmingham, was created after a series of devastating flooding events forced families to relocate and their homes to be removed. However, the remaining street grid has allowed cars to frequently cut through the area, and as a low-lying area the park frequently floods, making it marshy and difficult to maintain in rainy months. FLT, The City of Birmingham, and The Nature Conservancy in Alabama are collaborating to re‑envision the park plan to address flood mitigation and stream restoration in addition to the creation of the park.
