Rust Tract
This large acreage is comprised of two contiguous private land inholdings located at the very heart of the Chattooga Watershed, and containing tributary streams and undeveloped forest lands both surrounding and inside the Wild & Scenic River Corridor. Protecting these properties would be critical to ensuring the long-term preservation of the conservation values and the water quality of both the upper watershed, and the main stem of the Chattooga. The historical stewardship of private landholdings along the Chattooga River has helped preserve habitat, water quality and the scenic character of the entire watershed, but with ownership changing hands settlement of estate matters is ongoing, with an expected mediated resolution within 6-12 months.
